Georgia
Taylor
Georgia began her adjusting career as a multi-line adjuster in Steamboat
Springs, Colorado. In 1983 she opened her own adjusting firm in
Colorado until she sold it in 2001. She has general adjuster experience
on multi-million dollar losses throughout the mountain states including
such varied losses as ski lodges, custom Pullman Railway and high
end resorts residences.
As example of her loss experience, she was the lead adjuster representing
11 insurers when a city block in Steamboat Springs was destroyed
by fire and explosion. In the subsequent subrogation litigation,
her assistance in jury selection and testimony resulted in an 85%
negotiated recovery.
An accomplished commercial artist herself, she has had extensive
exposure to the artistic and business aspects of the art world.
With a degree in Fine Arts from Pasadena City College and attendance
at the Appraisers Association of America conference, she is intimately
familiar with the business of art, having managed gallery showings
and in service as an officer or board member of numerous non-profit
organizations including museum, Council of Art & Humanities
and similar organizations.
While her own paintings and mixed media works typically sell for
thousands of dollars, her expertise in Southwestern and Contemporary
art result from literally hundreds of hours of exposure through
seminars, working with mentoring artists and gallery showings. Georgia
has long been recognized as a Fine Art specialist in the Aspen,
Beaver Creek and Vail insurance and art collecting communities.
She has also testified as an expert witness on coverage and damages.
Georgia has the distinction of being the only women member worldwide
in the International Institute of Loss Adjusters. She has won numerous
awards of distinction, including: National Recipient of Claims Professional
of the Year, the Regional VII Recipient of Claims Professional of
the Year; - Claims Professional of the Year - ACE/Claims Professional
of the Year. She is also a certified business counselor with SCORE,
the society of Retired Executives, has served on the Claims Magazine
Advisory Board and had extensive officer and committee experience
with the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters,
Affiliated Adjusters, Inc. and the National Association of Insurance
Women. Georgia is also a member of the Loss Executives Association
(LEA) and the International Association of Arson Investigators.
